Middle school equestrians in Wisconsin are gearing up for rough-and-tough riding events in 2011 with the Wisconsin High School Rodeo Association’s junior high school division.
Wisconsin junior high school rodeo competitions include:
- May 20th – Wisconsin Junior High Rodeo, Dubuque, Iowa
- May 29th – Junior High Rodeo, Arcadia, Wisconsin
- June 3rd – Wisconsin Junior High State Rodeo Finals, Lancaster, Wisconsin
- June 26-July 2 – National Junior High Rodeo Finals, Gallup, New Mexico
- August 12 – Junior High Rodeo, Mineral Point, Wisconsin
- September 16 – Junior High Rodeo, Medford, Wisconsin
These equestrian events are open to junior high school students in 6th through 8th grades.
Junior high school rodeo events will offer these equestrian competitions:
For Boys:
- Breakaway Roping (no Calf Roping)
- Calf Roping (no Breakaway)
- Chute Dogging
- Goat Tying
- Junior Bull or Steer Riding
For Girls:
- Barrel Racing
- Breakaway Roping
- Goat Tying
- Pole Bending
Team Roping and Ribbon Roping are co-educational at Wisconsin junior high rodeo events.
