Wis National Guard troops get official send-off at Mitchell Airport

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is leading a send-off ceremony for about 150 troops from Wisconsin's Army National Guard at General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) on Friday morning.

Eventually, after two months of training in Indiana, these members of the 32nd Military Police Company and the 157th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (major commands) will be deployed to Kosovo, to serve with the NATO-led peacekeeping mission, the Associated Press reported.

Later, 30 soldiers from the 238th Aviation Regiment who are part of this deployment will get their own send-off ceremony.

About 7,700 soldiers serve in the Wisconsin National Guard, and about 2,300 in the Wisconsin Air National Guard, according to the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs.
