Wiregrass heavily represented in all-star baseball and softball games today

Several Wiregrass baseball and softball players will be involved with the baseball and softball games as the Alabama High School Athletic Association North-South All-Star Week kicks off this afternoon in Montgomery.

The baseball doubleheader is scheduled to be held this afternoon at 4 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery. Among the Wiregrass players selected for the South All-Stars include pitcher Clay Holmes from Slocomb and catcher Sheldon Murphy of Headland. Seth Nolan of Headland will serve as one of the assistant coaches.

A whopping seven players and one assistant coach will be involved in today's softball doubleheader starting at 6 p.m. inside Montgomery's Lagoon Park.

Among this year's Wiregrass softball all-stars include shortstop/pitcher Mollie Hanson from Northview, shortstop/second baseman Hilari Hopkins of 2011 6A state champion Dothan High School, shortstop/outfielder Ashley Simon from Enterprise, third baseman Jordan Whiddon from Northview, pitcher Sara Mock of Kinston, Kaitlynn Wiggins (pitcher.shoertstop), and catcher Amanda Griggs of Goshen.
