Wipeout Wii video game sold out of stock as popular game dropped to $29.99 on Amazon.com, then raised
If you're looking for the hot new video game that might stay hot through Christmas, that game just might be Wipeout on Wii.
That's because this reporter eschewed her husband's plan to purchase the Wii Wipeout game out in California, not knowing how hard it would be to get our hands on the game later.
On Monday, Amazon.com had dropped the price of the Wipeout on Wii video game down to $29.99 (after clicking that 'click to see price in cart' option that Amazon.com sometimes employs) -- but since the ship date was in the next 2 - 3 weeks range, I hesitated and didn't buy the Wii game.
Lo and behold, the next day Amazon.com has the Wipeout Wii game back priced at $39.98 as of this writing -- so a mother is left to call all the Gamestop stores, Toys R Us stores, WalMart stores in the area, discovering only a Gamestop in Erie, PA has the game in stock.
"I'd better not drive all the way there," I told the helpful Ohio-area Gamestop guy who checked in his computer to see which Gamestop stores had the popular Wipeout Wii game in stock.
If only all the Walmart, Target and Gamestop, Toys R Us and other stores just had their in-stock computer inventories online for us all to search -- I couldn't even find a Wipeout Wii tracker game search engine -- hopefully the good Lord will show me how to create one -- so I and other parents wouldn't have to call all over God's green earth to find this video game.
The hunt for the new Wipeout game on Wii in stock...

Update: I see Best Buy has the Wii Wipeout game for $29.99 as of this writing, but it's out of stock as I check for it -- but at least Best Buy has a nice feature online that lets users "check more stores" to see when their Wii Wipeout games become available.
(I still urge people to call their stores before visiting -- my husband found one in stock at Wal-Mart about 14 miles away from us, but when I called, it was no longer in stock. One Wal-Mart store employee told me that it takes their computer 2 hours or so to update, so sometimes the stock in gone and the computer is wrong.)
I've also called Barnes and Noble, Blockbuster, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Borders, Wal-Mart, Target and all the other stores my son could remind me of.
Wipeout on Wii at Toys R Us has email when available optionAt least Toys R Us has the cool little "email me when available" option -- the same tool I used when the Zhu Zhu Pets toy craze was going on.
But the Wipeout: The Game for Nintendo Wii is sold out as of this writing on Toys R Us as well -- we'll see if that "email me when available" will result in the frenzied purchasing that the Zhu Zhu Pets did when folks would get the email and add the product to their carts and the toys would sell out before they could purchase them sometimes.
Wal-Mart also has the Wipeout game on Wii for $29.96 -- one of the lowest prices I've seen, but it's sold out online -- and their "check in stores" option was updated days ago as of this writing, and when I call the actual Wal-Mart stores, they are sold out.
From the Wipeout Wii video preview, the game looks funny -- and the comments from customers on Amazon.com seem pretty positive.
We love watching people wipeout on the Wipeout TV show, and now it looks like lots of folks want to make little cartoon video game characters wipeout on Wii.
So it's back to checking Alexa.com and Amazon.com to see when that Wipeout game will drop back to $29.99 -- I really don't want to pay $39.98 now that I've seen it cheaper.
