‘Winx Club: Beyond Believix’ episode 16 recap and review

Last week on “Winx Club,” Tritannus caused an eclipse that affected all of the magical worlds. On Stella’s home world of Solaria, her father King Radius became ill because of his connection to Solaria’s suns. Icy shocked everyone by shielding Tritannus from Bloom’s blast with her own body.

Winx Club” season 5, episode 16 is titled “The Eclipse.” On Solaria, Stella’s mother, Queen Luna, nurses her ex-husband King Radius, who continues to weaken because Solaria’s suns are dimming.

The Winx fairies are at the Pillar of Light with Tritannus, the Trix, and the mutant minions. Tritannus grabs the injured Icy and takes off, with Bloom, Aisha, and Stella in hot pursuit. Darcy and Stormy are abandoned. Flora knocks both of them down by herself. They then notice that Tritannus and Icy have left them behind, and they’re angry.

Aisha calls after Tritannus, who orders his minions to attack the fairies. This time Aisha is ready. She summons King Neptune’s sword and uses its magic to restore her cousins Nereus and Tressa to their real forms. Aisha gives Neptune’s sword to Nereus, who vows to use it to free the Infinite Ocean from Tritannus. Bloom and Aisha vow to work together to defeat Tritannus.

The Pillar of Light begins to collapse and the Winx fairies use their Sirenix convergence to repair it. However, the Pillar is still unstable--it lacks light. Stella uses the light of Sirenix to restore the pillar, and the suns of the magical worlds are also restored.

Back on Solaria, Stella’s worried that her parents will go back to fighting now that the crisis is over. Her worst fears are confirmed when her father behaves childishly and storms off after Stella tells him that she used examples of both her parents to fix the pillar.

Back at Alfea, Miss Faragonda meets with the professors regarding Tritannus. She knows that Tritannus will attack the other magical pillars and cause more emergencies for the magical realm. The professors are concerned that the Winx fairies have not fully mastered their Sirenix powers.

The Winx try to comfort Stella who is broken hearted over her parents fighting. Bloom gets a call from Sky who is coming to visit her. A message arrives from Professro Wizigz asking for their help at Lake Roccoluce. The Fairies go to meet him.

Miss Faragonda has a virtual meeting with the kings of the magical worlds regarding Tritannus. They decide to meet on Domino to strategize. After the meeting, Sky’s father King Erendor of Eraklyon wants to know where his son is. Sky’s former fiancé Diaspro says that Sky is headed for Alfea. Sky’s mother comments about Diaspro keeping tabs on Sky. Erendor makes Diaspro the King’s Liaison and sends her to retrieve Sky. Sky’s mom tells Erendor that it wasn’t such a good idea to send Diaspro after their son.

The fairies arrive at Lake Roccoluce and find Professor Wizgiz is being held by a pollution monster. The Winx have some trouble figuring out how to defeat the creature at first. They make their Sirenix transformation and take a hint from the professor to defeat the monster. Professor Wizgiz reveals that he created the situation as a test for the fairies to help them master their Sirenix powers.

Bloom meets Sky back at Alfea, but their happy reunion is wrecked by Diaspro who arrives and says that King Erendor has given her the power to order Sky home. Diaspro gloats as she and Sky get on her ship and depart.

Next week Daphne tells the Winx to look for the Eye of Inspiration, while Tritannus turns the floating trash island into a monster that targets Gardenia.

Seeing King Radius’ behavior, we can see where Stella gets her character flaws—but she’s more mature than her father and has a more generous spirit. Tritannus and Icy are really pushing it with their treatment of her sisters. It would be great to see Darcy and Stormy turn on them.

Winx Club is a joint production of Rainbow S.r.I. and Nickelodeon. Winx Club airs in the U.S. at 1:00 p.m./12c on Sundays on Nick.
