Wintry weather to return with snow possible tonight across northwest PA (Video)

Clouds will increase across northwestern Pennsylvania today ahead of an approaching area of low pressure. This system will move to the lower Great Lakes this afternoon, then track by to our south tonight.

A mix of rain and snow showers will develop this afternoon as the storm system approaches. Temperatures today will rise to near 40 degrees.

A mix of rain and snow will continue into the early evening hours, then change over to all snow by mid to late evening. The snow will continue overnight into Saturday morning. Snowfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches will be possible across the area.

Lows tonight will fall to the low to mid 20s which will allow for roads to become icy and possibly snow covered in some areas. Highs on Saturday will reach the mid 30s.

The precipitation is expected to taper off by mid day Saturday.

The storm will move away from the area Saturday night with drier air forecast to overspread the area. Sunday, Saint Patrick’s Day, will be partly sunny with highs in the mid 30s.
