Winter storm moving in tonight and tomorrow as temperatures drop today

A strong arctic front will slip through today bringing temperatures from near 60 in the morning to the upper 30s by 10pm tonight. There after temperatures will continue to drop as a low pressure slides up along the stalled arctic front. Heavy rain will break out initially as temperatures will be just warm enough. Then by midnight rain will convert to Freezing rain/sleet giving the area light ice accumulations of .25 of an inch. This mix will transition to snow by noon Friday and last until Midnight Friday night. Snowfall will range from near 2 inches in Chillicothe to near 7 inches along the I-71 corridor, and then totals will drop significantly North and West of there.

The following is the seven day forecast for the Dayton metro area and a 50 mile radius around it. Other metro areas like Columbus, Cincinnati, and Portsmouth are not included. For those areas please request a separate forecast. Thanks.

Today 12/5 - Cloudy, scattered rain showers early then again after 5pm. Winds NW 10 to 20 mph. High Early of 60 then falling through the 40s. Chance of rain 70%.

Tonight 12/5 - Mostly cloudy, steady rain becoming mixed with and changing to sleet/freezing rain. Winds N 5 to 15 mph. Low 30. Chance of precipitation 100%. Rainfall around 0.25 of an inch, ice accumulations late of 0.20 inches.

Friday 12/6 - Mostly cloudy, sleet/freezing rain changing to snow midday. Winds N 5 to 15 mph, gusting to 20 mph. High 31 falling into the upper 20s late. Chance of precipitation 100%. Ice accumulation of 0.20 inches, snowfall around 2 to 4 inches.

Fri night 12/6 - Mostly cloudy, snow before midnight Winds 5 to 15 mph. Low 17. Chance of snow 100%. Snowfall 1 to 3 inches.

Saturday 12/7 - Partly sunny. Winds N 10 mph. High 24.

Sat night 12/7 - Increasing clouds. Low 19.

Sunday 12/8 - Mostly cloudy, rain/sleet/snow/freezing rain. High late day of 35. Chance of precipitation 70%.

Sun night 12/8 - Mostly cloudy, scattered rain showers. Low rising to 38. Chance of rain 100%.

Monday 12/9 - Partly sunny, a chance of scattered snow showers. High 38 falling into the 20s. Chance of snow 30%.
