Winter snow scenes in Somerset Center, Michigan, delight photographers (Photos)

The winter season offers photographers and digital photography hobbyists an opportunity to capture unique contrasts of light and dark. More specifically, sunlight plays off snow while naked tree shadows skirt along the surface. A babbling brook offers a source of varied lighting, while wildlife such as mallard ducks or bright red berries certainly create a unique addition to a winter landscape. As snow adheres to ornamental features such as cement bridges designed to look wooden, the gray protrudes from underneath to create a naturally occurring contrast. A park like this is a photographer's dream.

The images in the adjoining slideshow were taken at McCourtie Park, in Somerset Center, Michigan, on New Year's Day, 2013.
