Winter Schooling Dressage Series: three shows in early 2012

Thanks to this continuing great weather, we’re able to keep riding during the month of January. Which means we can get to some early shows. Here is a series of three dressage competitions, at Playland Equestrian Center, to kick start your 2012 season.

What

Winter 2012 Dressage Schooling Show Series of three competitions, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You can choose your dressage tests from the following:

USEF & USDF (Unites Sates Equestrian Federation and United States Dressage Federation)

USDF only

USEA (United States Eventing Association)

Competitors can choose to ride one or two different dressage tests, or a Fix a Test and get the judge’s perspective!

Six ribbons are awarded per class and classes may be divided per age and experience.

You will need to wear a helmet, but otherwise informal attire is acceptable.

The dressage tests will be ridden in the large indoor sand arena, and the warm up will be in the outdoor stone dust arena.

Ride times will be posted the Monday before each show.

Cost:

One test $25

Two tests $40 or Fix a Test $40

Note: ‘Fix a Test’ means riding your test in front of the judge, then hearing her comments and helpful hints immediately afterwards, after which you can ride the test again. It is a valuable training aid.

With the weather as warm as it is right now, there’s no need to hibernate with our horses until the big thaw comes. Horse and rider can stay active throughout the winter without losing shape. Let’s get out there and take advantage of it!
