Celebrate the holiday season in Amsterdam with the “Lichtfeesten in de wereld” (Light Festivals in the World) Christmas Canal Parade. The inaugural event will see dozens of Amsterdam’s canal tour boats, the halls of which will be stylishly decked by some of the city’s most renowned designers and artists, sail through its historic canals. On December 10 thirty boats will set sail along the canals after the lighting of the Magere Brug by the mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan with lighting specially designed for the occasion. From December 10 through January 1 this festival of light and water will cruise through Amsterdam’s canals making spirits and the dark days of winter bright. Adding to the merriment is the Christmas Sing Along that encourages passengers to sing along to traditional Christmas carols and their favorite holiday hits.
