Chicago - Even though the calender says today is January 11th. In Chicago it may as well be Aprill 11th. The city of Chicago has been experiencing an unseasonably mild winter this year.

The forecast high temperature for Chicago today is 61 degrees. That's a full 30 degrees above the average of high for a january day in Chicago which is 29. Adding to that, a steady rain and moderate winds out of the south and you have spring in the middle of winter.

Chicago, renown for its brutal winters that at times can be trying for its residents, has not had over an inch of snow in 322 days. Officially, only 1.7 inches of snow have fallen in the city this year. The norm for this time of year is nearly 9 inches. The record has stood for nearly three quarters of a century. With mild temperatures forecast through Saturday, the new total is set to just keep rolling on.http://www.weather.com/weather/today/USIL0225

Including this winter, Chicago has seen two very mild winters in a row. Followed by an unseasonable warm spring and summer that has seen very little rain. The combination of mild winters and extreme summers has put the city and the entire region for that matter in a deficit for the much needed rainfall and snow. Not to mention record decreased levels of water in Lake Michigan.
