Winter cookbook: Slow cooker ragu with marsala recipe

I found this recipe through The Splendid Table. It has been extensively adapted to reduce the work involved, fit my budget and to use ingredients that are more readily accessible.

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 2 pork sirloin chops
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced
  • 1 carrot, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Marsala wine
  • 1 can mushrooms
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 2 T tomato paste
  • 4 oz smoky ham, chopped
  1. Add ingredients from chicken through paste to slow cooker. Stir to mix. Cover and cook on high 3 hours. Add ham and cook another hour.
  2. Serve atop cooked spaghetti or your favorite pasta.
