Winter cookbook: Death by lasagna recipe

I have had this recipe in my recipe box for years and do not remember where I got it. This stuff is SO rich, we only have it about once a year.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 t dried parsley flakes
  • 2 t dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1/4 t garlic powder
  • 1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 pkg lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 4 oz pkg sliced pepperoni (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  1. Cook beef and onion in a large frying pan or skillet til meat is browned; drain. Stir in tomato sauce and next 6 ingredients; cook over low heat 10 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°.
  3. Combine the cream cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream and eggs; stir well.
  4. Spoon a small amount of meat sauce into a lightly greased 9x13 inch pan. Layer with half each of lasagna noodles, cheese mixture, pepperoni, meat sauce and Mozzarella cheese; repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
  5. Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes. Remove foil and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake another 15 minutes, or til top is golden brown.
