January 10-12 - Washington Winter Show. The Washington Winter Show will feature 45 premier antiques dealers, distinguished events centered around Southern cooking, style and art and a Loan Exhibition from Stratford Hall. Admission. Show opens at 11 a.m. daily at American University Museum at The Katzen Art Center, Washington, DC.
January 10-11 - South River High School's Dance Concert. Dance Company, Dance for Athletes, Dance I-IV, Crofton & Central Middle, and professional company "Essenza". 7 p.m. at South River High School auditorium.
January 11-12 - Seventh Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert and Seminar.The community is invited to this spirited, uplifting concert, and to take part in a seminar in which participants discuss a reading relevant to human and civil rights. The seminar and concert are free and open to the public and will take place on January 11 and 12. The seminars is on Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. in Mellon Hall, and the concert starts at 4 p.m. in Francis Scott Key Auditorium at St. John's College in Annapolis.
January 12 - Soup & Science - Blue Catfish. Enjoy a variety of hearty home-made soups and fresh bread with fellow nature lovers. Then sit back and enjoy listening to our guest speaker, Scientist Matthew Ogburn of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center [SERC]. 12-3 p.m. at Jug Bay Wetland Sanctuary in Lothian.
January 17-19 - Horse World Expo. Vendors selling every item imaginable for horse lovers, experts in all equine disciplines providing seminars and clinics around the clock and exciting demonstrations given throughout the weekend. $10 admission. Friday-Sunday at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.
January 25 - 18th Annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge. The 18th Annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge is not just an event - it's an experience that has become a winter-time tradition for thousands of warm-hearted Plungers. All day event at Sandy Point State Park.
