Lake George Winter Carnival 2014 has a full slate of activities scheduled for its third weekend. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 15 and 16, motorcycles and ATVs will compete in the AMA sanctioned New York State Ice Race Championships. Registration begins 9 a.m. Saturday at Duffy’s Tavern. Practice is at 10 a.m. followed by heats. For more information, contact Frank Carpinello of Electric City Riders at (518)542-2144.

The chowder cook-off begins at noon on Saturday at Shepard Park Beach. For $5, sample chowder from local eateries and vote for your favorite.

For owners of dogs with talent (and what dog doesn’t have a talent?), The Dog Cabin is holding a Lake George Dogs got Talent show Saturday and Sunday at 2:30. Sign up any time before 2:15. This is a free event and prizes will be awarded.

King Neptune’s will host children’s activities Saturday, 12-2 p.m. and a free Zumba class at noon.

The bonfire on the beach will be lit at 4 p.m. Saturday with the makings for s’mores offered free of charge. 6 p.m. features a wish lantern launch and a torchlight parade. Wish lanterns, which may be purchased at the Winter Carnival, are an Asian tradition. These mini hot air balloons will carry away all your worries and troubles. Fireworks follow at 6:30 p.m.

Tee time for Sunday’s 6-hole Glacier Golf Tournament is 12 p.m. Participants may sign up in teams of two or four. Singles will be paired. Prizes have been donated by a local golf course. Call (518) 683-5333 for more information.
