Brew lovers navigated through Mile High Station to samples new beers and reacquaint with familiar ones last weekend.
Those manning the represented breweries were constantly pouring and serving drinks throughout the night last January 25 at the annual event. Between pouring, beer lovers chatted with those behind the scenes about the various beers.
Most breweries showcased their top beers. For example, City Star Brewing of Berthoud, handed out samples of four brews:
- Raspberry Bandit (raspberry brown ale),
- Dead or Alive (double IPA),
- Red Necktar (American red ale) and
- Mule Kick (strong ale).
Only opened for nine months, City Star Brewing wanted to bring their beers to the Winter Brew Fest for branding and recognition. "We had a great time at Winter Brew Fest and made some valuable connections with our fellow local breweries and craft beer enthusiasts throughout the area. The feedback we received on these brews couldn't have been better. The venue was amazing and everyone seemed to have a great time," said Whitney Taylor of City Star Brewing.
City Star is Berthoud's local neighborhood brewery, a taproom-centric brewery, focused on offering 10 taps of fresh, small batch craft brews.
For repeat visitors, the event was packed with attendees as expected. For first-timers, enjoying a variety of beers was a delight.
Mary Jo McCandless enjoyed the brews offered at this venue. Her favorite parts of the Winter Brew Fest was "beer, beer, beer & chochkies." As a first-time attendee, McCandless thought it was too crowded and the venue was too small for the number of people pouring into the establishment.
But she added coming back next year might be a possibility.
The next brew fest at this venue is scheduled for July 26, 2013. If you visit the website, visitors can sign up for a contest drawing to win a pair of tickets.
Tip 1: Don't wait until the last week to purchase tickets.
Tip 2: It's worth the extra fee to purchase VIP tickets before general admission. Once general admission comes into the venue, it is difficult to sample several taste with a huge crowd.
