Winter break travel idea: Strong National Museum of Play

The Strong National Museum of Play, located at One Manhattan Square in Rochester, is a great place to take the kids any time of the year, but there are plenty of fun things happening at the Museum right now, making it a great place to take the kids while they’re on winter break in February.

The main attraction is the LEGO Travel Adventure, which opens on January 19th and runs through May 12th. Featured in this showcase of extraordinary vehicles created by LEGO are the child-sized race car made entirely of LEGOs, shapes and sculptures created by LEGO masters, and numerous hands-on activities including building and racing your own LEGO DUPLO vehicle and building a virtual LEGO vehicle. The exhibit is produced by the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in cooperation with LEGO Systems Inc.

Also make sure to check out these exhibits while at the Strong Museum: “Monopoly: An American Icon,” “eGameRevolution,” “The Berenstain Bears: Down a Sunny Dirt Road,” “Can You Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street?” and the National Toy Hall of Fame, as well as the Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden.

The Strong National Museum of Play is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $13 for ages 2 and older and free for kids under 2. Find out more about the Strong Museum at www.museumofplay.org.
