The holidays are almost here, and that means holidays from school, too. If you are looking for something to occupy your school-age kids during the winter break, there’s a great selection of activities right in Price Hill, with Imago’s Winter Break Camp Series.
There are three different camps—Art Camp, the Young Naturalist Camp, and Wilderness Survival Camp, with two dates for each. The camps are designed for students from age 5 through age 11, and run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Imago Earth Center, 700 Enright Avenue, in Price Hill. After Camp care is available until 5:30 p.m. for a small additional fee.
Art Camp dates are Wednesday, December 19, or Wednesday, December 26, and this popular program connects nature and imagination. Students will explore sculpture, painting, and journal writing while discovering natural designs and patterns in the world around them. The camp includes a hike in the woods and hands-on projects.
The Young Naturalist Camp will be held on Thursday, December 20, or Thursday, December 27. It is designed to cultivate youngsters’ interest in the environment and to develop their inner scientist. Campers will explore natural cycles, climates, and patterns in the earth’s landscapes as well as investigate topics such as the relationship between predators and prey and among different species in the animal kingdom. There will be hikes and hands-on science explorations and activities that heighten ecological awareness.
Wilderness Survival Camp is scheduled for Friday, December 21, or Friday, December 28, and it covers essential life skills for winter survival, including tracking, fire building, shelter making, solar and water systems, and map making! The camp also emphasizes the concept of sustainability and respect for the environment and our lovely planet earth. And yes, there are lots of outdoor activities, designed with safety and fun in mind.
The cost of the camps is $35 each for Imago Earth Center members, and $40 for nonmembers. There is a $15 discount for members ($10 for nonmembers) if a student registers for all three camps.
