Guests will be able to select from a list of trips and activities designed for both beginners and advanced winter adventurers alike.
Scheduled activities include hiking, kayaking, recreational tree climbing, cave tours, winter survival, rappelling, archeological field trips, a zip line, and much more. New activities this year include a rock climbing workshop, a .22-caliber shooting workshop, a nature photography workshop, and a rope climbing competition. Included on the caving excursions is a trip led by old-style carbide cap lamps.
The trips are graded on the difficulty and skills required; the higher the level, the more skills and special equipment needed. All of the trips and activities will be led by guides.
Winter Adventure Weekend participants will be invited to submit photos in the Winter Photo Salon competition. Categories will include winter adventure, caving, and local nature-adventure. Winners will be announced during the Saturday night program.
The list of trips and descriptions are available at http://www.winteradventureweekend.com/. In addition, a registration link can be found at the website including a Waiver of Liability & Risk Form; all registrations must be made online and must be completed by January 21, 2013.
Fees for the Winter Adventure Weekend are $30.00 for anyone 13 and older and $20.00 for children 6 to 12; all participants must be at least six years old and some trips have additional age requirements. The registration fee is nonrefundable and guests are responsible for appropriate dress, water, snacks, and other items.
