Winter adventure weekend planned for Carter Caves (Video)

Carter Caves State Resort Park, near Olive Hill, will host its fourth annual Winter Adventure Weekend on January 25 through January 27, 2013.

Guests will be able to select from a list of trips and activities designed for both beginners and advanced winter adventurers alike.

Scheduled activities include hiking, kayaking, recreational tree climbing, cave tours, winter survival, rappelling, archeological field trips, a zip line, and much more. New activities this year include a rock climbing workshop, a .22-caliber shooting workshop, a nature photography workshop, and a rope climbing competition. Included on the caving excursions is a trip led by old-style carbide cap lamps.

The trips are graded on the difficulty and skills required; the higher the level, the more skills and special equipment needed. All of the trips and activities will be led by guides.
