In the interest of fairness, my husband and I visited the new Winstar World Casino Hotel. It helped that they sent us a free night's lodging because I have, evidently, gambled enough money there to warrant a perk. It is common practice of casinos to give their card carrying members, aka Passport Members, free things. Truly, I did not lose as much money as you might think to warrant a free night.
I have two examples of being treated well by the staff. First, the FREE night was originally for the Inn at Winstar. It is the smaller hotel that is not attached to the casino. That would have been nice too, but when I called for our reservation I was told all those rooms were booked. Evidently I was not the only one who was given a free night. Sue Roach in reservations upgraded us to the Winstar World Casino Hotel, which is connected to the casino. Second thing that happened was, when we got our bill in the morning, we did have a charge for the room. I went to the guest services office and Judy took care of it right away.
The hotel is new. It opened just last Labor Day. As in all things new, it was very nice. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Lots of pillows. Rooms are equipped with coffee maker, blow dryer, IPod hookup on the clock radio, WiFi, safe and best of all, HDTV. The pool is pretty with its waterfall. Very clean and cool and big enough to actually swim in. Evidently the Inn has an indoor pool which would be great for a winter visit. The hotel does have a spa, exercise room and business center. There is a very nice Grill associated with the hotel. We had breakfast there which was a buffet. Next time we will have dinner there. There is also a coffee cafe and a bar in the hotel.
For more information on the casino itself, read my other article about Winstar. One great change that has been made since my last writing is the addition of The Toby Keith's I Love this Bar and Grill. Winstar has closed the steak house and has franchised this grill. It is quite large with two big screens showing Toby Keith videos. The sound is off but more generic rock 'n roll music plays over the audio system. There are lots of TV screens for patrons to watch sports. Decor is rustic and nostalgic. The menu is across the board. There are four kinds of steak, several seafood and chicken choices with your choice of sides. Our steak was very good. Alcoholic beverages are available. We got to the restaurant at 6:30 and were seated right away. If we had waited 10 more minutes we would have had to wait, so I suggest reservations. .jpg)
The Hotel does offer packages. For example, there are romantic packages, golf packages or Spa packages. Check out the web site for what is available and for pricing. It is easy to get to, just 1½ hours up I-35 right on the other side of the Oklahoma/Texas border. Many people from this area go to the casino for a day or even an evening but the Winstar World Casino Hotel was a nice break. I find a quick getaway is good for the soul.
