Winslow high school 2013 softball preview

WINSLOW---- First year coach Steve Bodge will have a mixture of young players and senior leaders in his first year as Winslow softball coach.

"These players have put in the time playing the game in the off-season. They are excited to prove themselves. They have a great chemistry and excellent team speed,"Bodge said. "Senior Megan Richards returns after handling the bulk of the pitching duties last season. Classmates Ali Leclair (SS), Jen Poulin (C), and Jessica Pare' (OF) bring back a ton of experience to a team that is otherwise young."

Bodge will be taking over a team that fell 2-0 against Gardiner in a preliminary round game last season. Bodge was varsity softball coach at MCI from 2006-2009.

"There are 16 kids in the program. The challenge will be getting opportunities for playing time at the Varsity level given the absence of a JV team due to numbers,"Bodge said. "This team will be playing it's best ball by June. With 11 of the 16 team members being freshman or sophomores combined with a new coach leading the way, they will be looking to gel throughout the season and be ready to challenge the top of the KVAC B conference by season's end."
