Winnipeg Jets defeat Vancouver Canucks in retro night.

Tonight's contest between the Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks was hardly run of the mill. It was a game that featured alumni from a bygone era of Winnipeg hockey.

Several members of the Canucks roster, of course, first plied their first professional trade in Winnipeg as members of the Manitoba Moose. Since those early days, the likes of Eddie Lack, Ryan Keeler, Alex Burrows, Alex Elder and Jannik Hansen are now NHL regulars. Other names have floated in and out of the NHL or moved on to other teams.

It's not surprising, then, that there were a phenomenal amount of Vancouver Canucks jerseys in the MTS Centre tonight. It's forgivable even.

Nonetheless, the game was pivotal for both teams, with the Winnipeg Jets trying to regain the upswing they had with Paul Maurice coming behind the bench, and the Canucks are fighting just to get out of an elongated slump.

1st Period

- Eddie Lack gets the start for the Vancouver Canucks tonight vs. Ondrej Pavelec. He's treated to "Eddie" chants early and almost gives up the first marker with the game barely a minute old.

- Winnipeg Jets strike first with a point shot from Zach Bogosian that beats Eddie Lack. Feed comes from Andrew Ladd and Toby Edstrom. 1-0 Winnipeg Jets

- Mere seconds later, Devon Setoguchi scores from in front of the crease on a tip from Dustin Byfuglien after a sweet pass from Mark Scheifele. 2-0 Winnipeg Jets

- Jets get the first penalty of the game to the "delight" of fans, as Chris Thornburn goes off for holding. Mere seconds into the PP, Daniel Sedan sends a pass to the front of the Jets net which is batted around a bit before Alexander Elder. Ryan Kesler draws an assist as well. 2-1 Winnipeg Jets
