Steve is a young man who thinks he is alone in the world. He shares memories and asks questions about life. He is perfectly imperfect, dangling on the edge of an emotional journey that will change him for ever.
Life is like a chain – or the perfect circle. If a link is removed or broken, the chain is basically destroyed. The play revisits Jiddu Krishnamurti’s philosophy: “Fear must exist as long as there is an urge to be or to become.” Through Steve’s monologue – and introspective journey – the audience is forced to understand that fear is what prevents most people from being themselves. It is only when a person realizes they are unique – and belong to the entire human chain – that they get to experience the death of fear and enjoy life for what it is: a series of beautiful events that may sometimes be incongruous.
In a day and age when many wonder how art – and theater – can be used to destroy barriers and bring an end to misconceptions, “Wild Abandon” sets the record straight. The skilful storyline and Zach Counsil’s tour-de-force performance create a moving journey. You will laugh and feel every word. Most importantly, you will learn to reconnect with yourself. In the process, you may even be able to answer some of your questions about life. You do not want to miss such an opportunity!
