The votes are in and the 2013 winners were announced yesterday in the 2013 ClickOnDetroit.com "4 The Best" competition. The annual competition takes votes in several different categories, including 17 wedding categories. Voting opened in the beginning of July and closed on Sept 15.
This year, the voting was a bit different than in past years. First off, votes were allowed on a daily basis, instead of the usual one-vote-per-week limit. Secondly, this was the first year ever where single companies were allowed to enter themselves into multiple categories. In the past, a company could only enter themselves in one category even if they offered multiple services...this year, the door was opened for many of the "combo companies" (companies that offer more than one service) to enter into several categories.
The new voting rule definitely had an impact, especially in the Videography and Photography categories. Complete Video Solutions, for example, had been voted #1 in this competition in the Videography category the past three years. This year, they finished in second-place behind the combo-company, Mike Staff Productions. Mike Staff's huge market reach also impacted the Photography category, where The Camera Chick also finished in second-place to Mike Staff Productions, although The Camera Chick had been voted #1 the past several years as well.
According to the new voting system, Mike Staff Productions finished in first place in DJ, Photography and Videography.
