The four-year-old mare, Wine Princess, is being retired at the end of the 2013 racing season. She is expected to make two additional racing career starts before her formal retirement. Then she will be bred during the 2014 season – the name of the stallion has not been announced at this time nor has her purchase price been disclosed. Wine Princess was privately purchased by Hill ‘N’ Dale Farm.
Trainer Steve Margolis has shown interest in the Chilukki and Falls City Stakes for possible races with Wine Princess, who will run under the colors of former owner Becky Winemiller.
Bred in Kentucky by the Allen E. Paulson Living Trust, Wine Princess is the daughter of Horse of the Year title holders Ghostzapper and Azeri. Wine Princess was a $475,000 yearling purchase by Winemiller at Keeneland September where she was consigned by Hill ‘N’ Dale.
Wine Princess has four wins from 11 races. She has earned over $330,000.
