It’s the time of year for multi-colored trees, falling leaves, cooler temperatures and best of all, fall festivals to begin! I love the feel of the autumn air as you walk a festival, and the smell of the food, reminiscent of carnival aromas, but better quality, permeating the air. I love walking shoulder to shoulder in the happy-go-lucky crowds, just one of many like-minded people, out to enjoy the same things.
One of my personal favorites of all festivals, no matter the season is the annual Wine on the River World Tour on Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge which spans the width of Nashville’s Cumberland River. As you linger on the bridge, sampling wine after delicious wine, jazz and other genres of live music fills the air, as does the sound of laughter, gossip and friendships in the making.
Tickets are on sale now at WineOnTheRiver.com and I highly advise that you hurry up before they are sold out. It’s a romantic event, with the bridge in all its lighted glory and the view of downtown Nashville is spectacular. It will be held Saturday, September 14th from 3:00pm to 7:00pm and a portion of the proceeds will benefit local charity Hands On Nashville.
The “World Tour” theme will highlight beverages from various regions across the globe. Each region will be paired with a local restaurant along with regional beverages including wine, beer and / or spirits. The wine samples (and they are aplenty and generous) are included in the price. The food, however, is extra, but so worth sampling some of Nashville’s finer fare.
Advance General Admission tickets are $50 (plus tax) per person and include a souvenir wine glass and all wine, beer and spirit samples. Day-Of General Admission tickets are $60 (plus tax) per person and will only be available if advanced tickets have not sold out. Designated Driver Tickets are $20 (plus tax) and do not include souvenir wine glass, wine, beer, or spirit samples. General Admission Tickets and Designated Driver Tickets can be purchased online at WineOnTheRiver.com. General Admission Tickets can also be purchased at Hallmark VW. Food will be available for purchase.
Wine on the River will feature live music throughout the event on two stages. The Nashville Symphony and the Teri Reid Quartet will perform from 3:00 - 5:00 pm, and the Trio San Rafael and Richard Cerniglia will perform from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
Back for the second year will be a 14 team Corn Hole Tournament sponsored by Jack in the Box. Attendees will need to register upon arrival and will have the opportunity to win the following:
- 1st Place Team: $50 gift cards
- 2nd Place Team: $25 gift cards
- 3rd Place Team: $10 gift cards
Immediately following the event, attendees are invited to continue the festivities at the Official Wine on the River After Party at The Silver Dollar Saloon. The Silver Dollar Saloon is located at 110 Second Ave North in downtown Nashville.
Wine on the River is proud to maintain a charitable component by contributing proceeds and collaborating with Hands On Nashville to promote volunteer opportunities within the Middle Tennessee community. Since 1991, Hands On Nashville has been connecting volunteers to critical needs facing our community, like hunger, homelessness, literacy, and animal welfare. Event set-up will begin on the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge on Friday, September 13th at 8:00 AM. The Bridge will be closed for the event from 12:00 AM on Saturday, September 14th until 12:00 AM Sunday, September 15th.
