On Oscar night, movie lovers will huddle around screens to cheer on their favorite film heroes. And, just as in the movies, wine may be part of the action.
This Sunday, Feb. 24, 240 supporters of the Ashland Independent Film Festival will once again gather from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at the Historic Ashland Armory to talk about the festival’s screenings planned for April and applaud Academy Award winners live on 30-foot screens.
Tickets cost $60 and include dinner and dessert prepared by A’viands and Southern Oregon University catering.
South Stage Cellars and other local wineries will be pouring reds and whites.
Making its final appearance will be the few remaining cases of Ashland Independent Film Festival Special Reserve Vintner’s Select Sauvignon Blanc ($20).
“The AIFF Oscar Night Gala is one of two annual fundraisers for the nonprofit film festival and is critical for helping us raise the funds necessary to produce the annual event,” says AIFF executive director Anne Ashbey. “The event is an opportunity for film lovers to gather to celebrate and cheer for the AIFF films that have been nominated for Academy Awards and is a great kick off for the April festival.”
One item to be auctioned off is a private dinner for eight with filmmakers at Standing Stone Brewing Co.
