One of my favorite restaurants in Delaware County is Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar in Glenn Mills, PA. The restaurant offers “high quality, farm fresh” menu items with most of the items under 500 calories. Most of the ingredients are from local farmers, which makes it a true local restaurant. The best (and sometimes the worst) part about this restaurant is the menu changes every season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall). It’s great because they have something new every couple of months. The only problem is that you get hooked on one or two of the items and then it goes away. Good thing all of their seasonal menus offer something fresh and delicious.
Now, about the wine bar! The restaurant has a full bar offering wine and spirits, along with a seasonal cocktail menu. I can’t wait to try the Red Mango Sangria on the spring menu. It’s made of red wine, brandy, mango and lemongrass. Sounds interesting.
The Wine Bar offers a nice wine selection, but it is a tad expensive. The best wine deal is the Wine Flight. For $10, you get 3 ounces each of 3 different wines of your choice. You can also choose some of the expensive brands, which is a nice touch. Nine ounces of wine for $10 is a great deal considering a lot of restaurants charge up to $16 for a 7 oz - 8 oz glass of wine.
With a flight you can try the wines before you commit to a full glass. It's the perfect opportunity to try something that you wouldn't consider because of the price, or you just want to try something that you never tried before.
The impressive part of this deal is the presentation. The wine is served in large wine glasses with place cards set at each glass with the description of each wine that you choose, along with pairing suggestions. I would suggest the Local Farms Cheese Plate appetizer with the wine flight. The server will be happy to help you pair the wine with the wonderful local cheeses that come with the appetizer.
