Wine and chocolate pairings from the Ohio Wine Producer's Association

January is quickly coming to a close and before we know it, Valentine's Day will be beckoning us to come celebrate. Just in time for the most romantic day of the year, the Ohio Wine Producer's Association has released a list of wine and chocolate pairings to make sure your Valentine's Day is as delicious as possible.

Cabernet Sauvignon-Pair the dusty earthiness and blackberry flavors of this red wine with deep, dark chocolates.

Cabernet Franc-The lighter flavors of this varietal, black currants and green peppers, pair well with medium dark chocolates.

Merlot-This more fruit forward red wine features notes of blueberry, cherry, herbs and a mineral earthiness. Pair it with dark chocolate that contain nuts.

Dolcetto-This red wine features the flavors of black cherry, prune and licorice. Try it with a dark chocolate mousse and fruit filled chocolates.

Syrah-The jammy flavor and soft tannins of syrah blend well with dark chocolate.

Chambourcin-The fruit forward black cherry and currant flavors of this wine work well with chocolate in many forms, from light to dark.
