Wine and Aphrodisiacs

Aphrodisiacs have been used through the ages by men and women to get their lovers in the mood for love. I’m not sure if there solid proof of their effectiveness, but it is fun trying to find out. Of course the list is long.
Oysters have long thought to have special qualities for wooing the opposite sex. They are high in protein and zinc which helps boost libido. Try starting with a nice plate of chilled oysters and serve them with a nice glass of Champagne. What better way to set the tone?
And we want to keep dinner light, so another appetizer is in order. Avocados, coriander (cilantro), garlic and chilies all help the blood flowing. Add some tomato and lime juice and you have guacamole, Add some chips and pour some nice buttery California Chardonnay, or even an Albarino from Spain, its crispness and citrus notes will work fine.
We want to stay light, so let’s skip right to dessert. Almonds and honey with pineapple and bananas make a great tart when put together. A nice dessert wine like a Moscato d”Asti, late harvest Riesling or even a late harvest Zinfandel.
Chocolate can’t be left out of this special dinner. Chocolate petit fours are the perfect finish. For wines to go with chocolate read my last article.
Good luck!
