John 3:5-7 (NLT)
Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.”
In the darkness of morning with no sun in sight, I opened the backdoor to let our little dog out and was met with a lovely cool breeze. It took my breath away in its rich coolness. I expected the hot, humid damp air that had greeted me all summer but the seasons are between to change. As summer exits, fall is approaching. Since we live in Florida, we do not experience the parade of colors like other states. It is hot and then it’s not. There is no real transition. It’s late September and the kids are still wearing shorts, tank tops and flip-flops. But with this introduction of a possible fall, it is time to prepare for the potential of winter. The wind is a tipoff that change is coming and I should be prepared. Do the children have the proper clothing for cooler weather and brisk days? Even though the wind is inviting, I still must consider if I am ready for what is to come in more ways than one.
The Kingdom of God has seasons as well. Human beings reproduce human life born of water. Upon arrival into this world, each person is inundated with humanistic thoughts, rational and reasoning. We are imprinted with a need to fit into society and go with the flow. But rebirth by the Spirit means that the winds of change will soon operate in our life by the Spirit of God and we should be ready. The wind blows where it wants from the storehouse of God. It brings things into our life and takes things out of our life in preparation for God’s Purpose, Plan and Promises. As Spirit-filled Sons and Daughters of God, there should be no fear of such events yet apprehensive of change in just about every way. People like things how they are. We rely heavily on our comfort zone as it compares to our understanding and knowledge. Just as the seasons are changing in the natural, they are changing in the spiritual realm as well. Are you ready? Are you fully prepared for what is to come?
Revelation 7:1-3 (NLT)
Then I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds so they did not blow on the earth or the sea, or even on any tree. And I saw another angel coming up from the east, carrying the seal of the living God. And he shouted to those four angels, who had been given power to harm land and sea, “Wait! Don’t harm the land or the sea or the trees until we have placed the seal of God on the foreheads of his servants.”
The winds of change blow gently for now as God has instructed the angels to hold back its full potential. What is He waiting for? You! The wind in His Storehouse is sent from the foundation of His Throne which is surrounded by righteousness and justice. (Psalm 89:13-15) But the Lord has sent forth unfailing love and truth out ahead to place the Seal of God on the foreheads of those who choose to answer the Call of Jesus Christ and become His Servants. Is that you today? Have you answered the call? You do not do so with your voice but with your heart and mind as you take the faith given to you by the Lord to develop a loving and trusting relationship that offers the freedom to live what you believe. These are Children of God. Such people are born of God’s Spirit and will move with the winds of change. What is your house built on today? Is it a firm foundation of faith developed by a good understanding of the truth that God loves you? Or is it like shifting sand uncertain of who God is and what His True Intentions are concerning you? One house will fall when the wind and rain come but the other will produce a harvest of confident hope that allows us to move with the wind of His Spirit.
Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 (NLT)
Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things. Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both.
Fall weather is cool and refreshing after the long, hot days of summer. I love it. But if we look beneath the comfortable climate, it is a season of death. The leaves are dying and falling from the tries as we glory in their colorful sacrifice. Final crops are harvested as the fields will soon be covered with ice and snow. We do not understand the path of the wind for although it may refresh and cool us it has the power to blow us away, too. It is a mystery where it comes from and where it is going yet is also compared to the Spirit of the Living God. Chasing the wind is meaningless as Solomon clearly points out throughout his text. You cannot see it. But if you wait for it, you will know when it comes. The Spirit of God lives inside of you. God has given us His Very Being so that we can experience a transformed life. It will require change just like the seasons. We do not always know what to expect but know that it is coming. It is with this in mind that many people ignore the move of God that is coming because they do not understand how He moves or what the Lord is doing so they ignore the wind. Imagine the National Weather Service issuing a tornado warning, sirens blaring that a twister is nearby, yet allowing your children to continue playing in the yard. Who would do such a thing? When the tornado warning comes, we gather our children and loved ones close and head for shelter from the storm but only those who head the warning when the first wind blows will make it safely through the storm. “But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” (Matthew 7:26-27)
Genesis 8:1 (NLT)
But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock with him in the boat. He sent a wind to blow across the earth, and the floodwaters began to recede.
God has not forgotten a single promise that He has made you. Disobedience and sin does not limit our potential in the Lord once repentance and restoration begin. It is just going to take a little time. God is making every detail good in your life. (Romans 8:28) There are a lot of moments that comprise the hours, days, weeks, months and years of your existence. He is perfecting that which concerns you. If Noah had opened the door of the ark too soon, all would have been lost. The floodwaters had only begun to recede when the wind began to blow. It was not time to exit the ark. So Noah watched and waited for the Lord. The first wind of change blew five and a half months before it was time to leave the boat. Can you imagine the level of patience and perseverance it took to remain on a ship with your family and every animal of the earth? Most families cannot make it through Thanksgiving without arguing or fussing. Some don’t even see or talk to one another again until the next major holiday, but ten and a half months on a boat overloaded with creatures of every kind. I am just glad that I was not called to be Noah’s wife! “Then God said to Noah, “Leave the boat, all of you—you and your wife, and your sons and their wives. Release all the animals—the birds, the livestock, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—so they can be fruitful and multiply throughout the earth.”(Genesis 8:15-17) The end result of winds of change for Children of God are always His Blessing!
Exodus 14:21-22 (NLT)
Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the LORD opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side!
Children of God who live by faith and choose to uncompromising righteousness as a way of life will have power to control the winds of change. Just as Moses, you can raise your hand and control the wind in your life. How do you do it? By faith, of course. “Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!” (Matthew 8:26-27) The winds of change are vessels of God moving things into and out of our life. The wind does not have power. It is God’s Spirit that is the powerful force of change in our life. But we see and fell the wind rather than relying on the Power of God’s Spirit from the inside of us. Jesus Christ demonstrated man’s ability to control their environment by the Power living on the inside of Him. But too many times, we get caught up in each season rather than moving through them effortlessly as Christ intended by placing His Spirit inside of us. We see the wind and fear the rain. Suddenly overwhelmed faith fades as uncertainty and doubt prevail based on a lack of knowledge, little faith and no confidence in the God of our Salvation. We begin to sink. (Matthew 14:29-31) The winds of change are meant only as a warning. It does not have the power to change or transform your life. But the Spirit of God living inside of you can, if you heed the winds of change and prepare your heart for His Coming! Your natural will become supernatural by relying on His Spirit rather than remaining subject to the physical elements of your life.
Ezekiel 37:9-10 (NLT)
Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to the winds, son of man. Speak a prophetic message and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come, O breath, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so they may live again.’” So I spoke the message as he commanded me, and breath came into their bodies. They all came to life and stood up on their feet—a great army.
The winds of change should promote spiritual growth from the inside out. Remember God is holding back His Full Force from the earth in preparation for the second coming of Christ. He is waiting on you to be born of water and of the Spirit. Those born of the Spirit possess the Power of Christ. As we speak to the winds of change, they become instantly stirred up with the Resurrection Power of Jesus Christ. Dry bones are coming to life beginning on the inside of you. What you thought was lost is to be found. Those things you once considered dead or dying are coming to life. The impossibilities are suddenly possible. It begins inside of each person who is filled with the Spirit of the Living God. (Ezekiel 37:1-6) God changes us from the inside out breathing new life into our dry and thirsty soul. As these changes begin to fortify our faith and develop deep roots of confident hope, we are not afraid of the winds of change so we allow ourselves to be carried through life by the Spirit of God according to God’s Word, Will and Way. Suddenly things begin to change but its okay. No longer carried away by every wind or windbag that comes along (James 1:5-7), we walk by faith and not by sight no matter how strong the gale forces are around us. God is using the winds, rain and storms to get His Very Best to us. He is resurrecting our life including every single blessing and promise from the inside out and as our soul prospers so will we!
Isaiah 32:1-3 (NLT)
Look, a righteous king is coming! And honest princes will rule under him. Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a parched land.
Jesus Christ came giving us access to the Righteousness of God by His Grace and Mercy. Now is the time for us to be the shelter from the wind, refuge in the storm and like streams in the desert to a lost and dying world. Prophecy is coming to pass day by day, hour by hour and minute by minute. The wind is picking up at the proximity of Jesus. We are commission to be the Light of the World. There is not time for chasing the wind or running from it either. But rather it is time to dig in deep roots of faith and live out our calling. We are the honest princes who will rule under Him. But are we ruling and reigning…it is by faith we accept the Call of Jesus Christ and His Mercy and Grace allow us to fulfill it. His Spirit is our guide.
James 3:3-5 (NLT)
We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches.
But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.
It only takes a well-place mustard seed of faith convinced that God is able to do, Christ fully accomplished His Purpose and His Spirit lives in you to change the world. Winds of change are blowing over our nation and the world as the economy shakes and peace is rattled. Do not be alarmed but be alert. The season is changing. Revival is coming. Are you ready? This is just a tiny spark that will set a great forest fire…
Luke 12:49 (NLT)
I have come to set the world on fire, and I wish it were already burning!
Matthew 6:9-13 (NLT)
Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
The winds of change are blowing…are you ready?
