With the holidays here and time being sucked away with the activities that come with it, valuable training is often the first thing that goes out the window. When your training time gets shortened wind trainer workouts are a good substitute.

Getting motivated to train on a wind trainer is tough to do. Often wind training is done alone in the garage with only tacked up cycling posters watching. In order to get the most of the training time on a wind trainer there needs to be a structured training plan. The Bikeradar.com training article outlines five workouts that will get a rider into race shape. To get the most of the wind trainer workouts make sure there is a strong fan pointed in your direction. Without the airflow of riding outdoors to help cool off, a fan is a necessary piece of indoor training. Also, make sure there are plenty of fluids on hand. After a solid hour training and the amount of sweating done, a minimum of two water bottles should be consumed.

While the weather has taken a turn for the worse and the hours of daylight less, training time is reduced. Getting on the wind trainer, while not the most exciting training method, it is often a very effective method.
