A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for Volusia and Lake Counties Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne. The advisory includes the cities of Deland, Leesburg, Daytona Beach and Clermont, and is in effect from 4 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday. Forecasters say northwest winds around 15 to 20 miles per hour overnight, along with temperatures in the upper 30s, will “…produce wind chill values between 30 and 35 degrees toward sunrise Friday morning.” The National Weather Service warned those going outside Friday morning to, “…dress warmly in layers and make sure you wear a hat and gloves.”
Wind Chills around 30 by Friday morning
Forecasts late Thursday night predicted low temperatures around 39 degrees for the Daytona Beach area, 37 for the Palm Coast area, 38 for the Deland and Leesburg areas overnight, and 40 expected in Clermont. However, wind chills predicted for Friday morning included 31 for Daytona Beach, 24 for Palm Coast, 30 in Deland and Leesburg, and 32 in Clermont.
Gale warning expected also
Forecasters also said they expect a gale warning to be put in place overnight for waters offshore Volusia and Brevard Counties, as northwest to north winds at 25 to 30 knots follow a “…strong cold front tonight.”
