Olin Corporation through its Winchester Division is recalling two lots of M*22™ .22caliber Long Rifle 40 Grain Black Copper Plated Round Nose rimfire ammunition.

They contain the symbol number S22LRT and lot numbers are: GD42L and GD52L

These lot number are imprinted without ink on the left tuck flap of the 500 round carton.

Winchester has determined that the above lot may contain double powder charges which can cause damage to a firearm or to the shooter and bystanders.

Winchester has issued this warning:

DO NOT USE WINCHESTER® M*22™ 22 Long Rifle RIMFIRE AMMUNITION WITH LOT NUMBER GD42L or GD52L

Review your cartons Immediately discontinue use if you find any with the above lot numbers and contact Winchester toll free at 866-423-5224 or visit http://www.winchester.com/Product-Service/Pages/Contact-Us.aspx for free UPS pick-up of the recalled ammunition.

Apparently the 1000 round cartons do not have a lot number, so it is unclear from their press release as to whether these cartons are affected.

It is advisable to contact Winchester in the case of any doubt at the above toll free number or writing to them at Winchester, 600 Powder Mill Rd, East Alton, IL 62024 attention SLRT22 Recall , or visit their website here

No other lots or other Winchester ammunition are subject to this recall only the two lots previously mentioned.
