Mike Finn, award-winning editor of “WIN” (“Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine”), and California high school coach Aaron Wherry will be guests will be guests this week for the “On The Mat” radio show for Wednesday, July 23, the weekly broadcast announced via email Tuesday.

The two guests are likely to provide a sneak preview into the future of college wrestling, thanks to their current connections to high school wrestling.

Finn was named journalist of the year by the National Wrestling Media Association in 2006. As editor of “WIN”, the national wrestling publication that covers high school, college and international wrestling, Finn will provide listeners with an update of the action from the 2014 Junior Nationals now taking place in Fargo, N.D. This is in addition to the preview coverage available in the most recent issue of WIN magazine dated July 4, as well as what’s now available at the publication’s website. Many of the wrestlers on the mat at the FargoDome this week and next may well be the collegiate – and freestyle and Greco-Roman – champs of tomorrow.

A native of Lime Springs, Iowa, Wherry is currently the head wrestling coach at Golden Valley High School in Bakersfield, Calif. His team is touring through the Midwest, which includes a visit to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. The museum in Waterloo, Iowa named for the iconic wrestler and coach is sponsor of the “On The Mat” broadcast.
