Wilson County Tea Party won't disband after all

Over two weeks ago we announced in this space that the Wilson County Tea Party would disband. Earlier this week The Examiner received notice that the group wouldn’t disband after all, after former Chairman Sherrie Orange was able to find a local Wilson County citizen willing to take the reins of leadership. “It is funny how fast the press picked up on disbanding, but have been slow to discuss its quick resurrection,” Orange said in a statement to The Examiner. Orange said she talked to local Wilson County couple Menda and Howard Holmes about taking over the leadership nearly two weeks ago, and said that they were willing to move forward. “I told them that I hope they will take it to new heights and do more with the group than I was able to do,” Orange said.

Orange said she is a bit frustrated that Statewide media were very quick to report disbandment of the group, which had been among the State’s more influential local tea party organizations, but she has seen nothing about its restoration over the last week.
