Williams Uptown Pub & Peanut Bar

Nuts, anyone? If you're like me, you're always pleased to take what you can get for free. Williams Uptown Pub & Peanut Bar is one of the few places around that offers this throwback American bar staple. Free peanuts and over 70 beers on tap--what's not to love? Even The Most Interesting Man in the World agrees with me on this point (though I think he prefers Dos Equis, I'm sure he's also a fan of variety).

In addition to offering unlimited free, delectable peanuts, Williams, as I alluded to above, boasts an enviable selection of tap beers. If you're looking to expand your beer-tasting palette, I'd suggest heading to Uptown and making a stop at Williams. In addition, they have a huge game room complete with enough pool tables and dart boards to keep you and your friends entertained while you sample your brews.

Another highlight is that, once you've found the right beer for the evening, at Williams you can order it in a one-liter mug. Any pub that offers liter beers will always keep a special place in my heart.

On weekends, the crowds can get quite large and very diverse in Williams' spacious two-floor bar space. The few times I've been there off-peak, it's been hit-or-miss. Nonetheless, as Uptown options go for laid-back 20-somethings, Williams has to be considered near the top.

Stop in if you're in Uptown and take a nut-filled, beer-soaked break from your traditional Dinkytown/Stadium Village and Downtown haunts.
