He actually injured his leg in an accident while out riding a horse. Nothing was wrong with him that will be a long-term problem. He is simply using it to help him out while he is hurt at this time. Someone even had to push him on stage during Comic-Con when he appeared and that is what got everyone wondering what happened to him.

Shatner did speak out to the crowd and tell them what was wrong with him. People seeing pictures of the event didn't get to hear this explanation though. He said, "I was riding a horse and had an accident. The horse got off scot-free. I did not. I wrecked my leg. I was not going to (miss Comic-Con). In a couple of days I'll be fine, but right now I'm in a lot of pain."

It does sound like he will heal up totally in the long run. It is great that William Shatner was willing to show up for the event no matter what. He is very faithful to his fans to be there despite the pain that he was feeling after hurting his leg. Sadly the horse got the best of him on this one.

Comic-Con was full of fans that were excited to see various actors and actresses. A lot of people would have been frustrated if they had paid for tickets just to see William Shatner and he had not been able to show up for the event. His attendance was important to a lot of people.
