Captain Kirk is making contact this week, as William Shatner tweets to astronaut Chris Hadfield have been a fun, feel good story over the past few days.
Shatner, who of course played Captain Kirk on in the popular “Star Trek” franchise, decided to reach out to astronaut Chris Hadfield to see if he could get a response despite Hadfield literally floating throughout space.
"@Cmdr_Hadfield Are you tweeting from space? MBB," tweeted Shatner. There reference of “MBB” is Shatner’s popular way to sign off. It stands for “My Best, Bill.”
It wasn’t long before Hadfield, a mechanical engineer, responded to Shatner’s tweet.
"@WilliamShatner Yes, Standard Orbit, Captain. And we're detecting signs of life on the surface," the astronaut wrote.
Hadfielf rocketed into space just one month ago. He’s part of a six-man crew, and serves as the flight engineer.
William Shatner does a pretty good job of keeping his tweets updated and entertaining. He also manages to interact with his 1 million followers quite well.
When one fan asked if he still has the Captain Kirk suits from the TV show, Shatner responds, “No, didn't have the foresight to keep them.”
