“Star Trek” actor William Shatner will be performing his new record “Ponder the Mystery,” to be released Oct. 8, in its entirety backed by the progressive rock group Circa featuring Billy Sherwood, who produced and co-wrote the album, and Tony Kaye, both former members of YES, at three venues in Southern California, the actor announced Sept. 10.
“Ponder the Mystery” includes well-known guest artists from the progressive and fusion genres, including Rick Wakeman, Al DiMeola, Steve Vai, Robbie Krieger, Vince Gill, Edgar Winter, George Duke, Zoot Horn Rollo and Dave Koz.
The performances will take place Oct. 23 at Saint Rocke in Hermosa, CA., Oct. 24 at The Canyon Club in Agoura, CA., and Oct. 25 at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
The album is described in a press release as a story about “a man in despair through the setting sun, twilight and finally darkness, and in the process, regains his joy of life.”
