No matter what age you are, you must recognize the name of Captain James T. Kirk from one of the most popular T.V. Shows in history, 'Star Trek'. Well, captain Kirk is releasing a new album.
William Shatner who played the role of the U.S.S Enterprise commander in the T.V. Series 'Star Trek' back in the '60s, is indeed a musician too. His music career began relatively at the same time as the television series was still on air. In 2013, the actor/musician, contributed along with country music star Vince Gill and guitarists Steve Vai and Mick Jones from Foreigner among others, co-writing all the lyrics of “Ponder the Mystery”. According to the press release announcing the big news, the progressive rock album will be released on Oct. 8. As reported by MSN, Shatner describes the album as "quite possibly the most creative thing I have ever done." Ponder is the fourth album released by Shatner, his album début was out in 1968 named “The Transformed Man.”
As far as tour dates concerns, Shatner announced on his Facebook page on Sept. 2 a tour in CA promoting the upcoming album. With backing band “Circa” featuring former Yes members Billy Sherwood (guitar/keyboards) and Tony Kaye (keyboards), William Shatner will be on stage from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25 in different Californian cities.
On the other hand, the Foreigner are currently on Tour in the U.S. and will be joining the Panama City Seafood and Music Festival on Oct. 19. For the Vince Gill lovers, Fort Lauderdale will have to wait until next year on Jan. 19 to see him performing live at the Holland America Line.
