According to Movie Fanatic on Feb. 11, William Shatner, who is starring in a new movie, "Escape from Planet Earth", called J.J. Abrams a pig and fool hardy for taking on both of the franchises of “Star Wars” and “Star Trek”. He also emphasized that he doesn't appreciate Abrams for not even including him in any of the movies.
Shatner, being an iconic science fiction figure as well as a fan, has expressed his feelings on the matter.
“I mean he’s collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest. And he’s probably the most talented director of that ilk we have. But, he’s gone too far this time".
Shatner also mentioned that they are buddies, even had taken him out for sushi, but his concern for not being included in either of the franchises has brought Shatner to have a chat over sushi once again about the situation and set Abrams straight.
There had been conflicts of interest online expressing Abrams ability to even participate in a third “Star Trek” movie due to his total focus on the “Star Wars” franchise. Some fans may feel he may have taken on too much, but a writer from Variety magazine confirmed that, Star Wars doesn't kill his involvement”.
Shatner, being rather comedic in most cases in his delivery, seemed to keep a straight face when he made his statement about Abrams fool hardiness and it’s hard to tell if he’s really being serious or joking. How seriously can we take the “Priceline Negotiator”?
