Sen. Rand Paul's son was arrested for disorderly conduct and underage drinking in North Carolina over the weekend. CNN reported Jan. 7 that William Hilton Paul, 19, was arrested at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport after a flight from Kentucky. He has been charged with three misdemeanors.
CNN shares that Rand Paul's son was arrested and charged with consuming beer and wine underage, being intoxicated and disruptive, and disorderly conduct. It is not known at this point if he was drinking at the airport or on the plane, just that he was arrested at the airport after the flight. So far details about what may have happened on the plane to prompt the arrest have not been made public. The senator's office has released a statement asking that the public give the family privacy as they deal with the matter.
MSNBC reports that William Hilton Paul's posted bond was $750 and he was released after a little over two hours in the Mecklenburg County Jail. Rand Paul's son was arrested after a U.S. Airways flight from Lexington, Ky., and the grandson of former presidential candidate Ron Paul will be in court Tuesday on the charges.
