William Hill brings out their inaugural North Coast Chardonnay

The William Hill 2012 Estate North Coast Chardonnay is out. And it is good!

We received our samples recently and Winemaker Ralf Holdenried has done it again. This is the first vintage of the variety from William Hill and it already is a popular selection at the winery.

With the nose of ripe fruit, this wine moves gently through both tropical and citric fruit aromas. Since the grapes are sourced from three AVA’s, it blends a touch of each area. Sonoma, Mendocino and Napa have influenced this blend, and each adds to the soft and creamy feeling in mouth; later there is a touch of acidity, normal for a quality Chardonnay.

The grapes for the North Coast Chardonnay were harvested at prime ripeness in each of the AVA’s. Selection was made from late August through mid-October. The wines had a yeast addition, and a portion of the fermentation was done in stainless tanks. The remainder of the fermentation was barrel fermented at 62° F.

The numbers:

Content: Chardonnay

Origin: California North Coast

Alcohol: 13.5%

pH: 3.67

This is a delightful Chardonnay. Worth trying, and it will then become an addition to your wine locker.

Have a winederful day!
