William and Mary women place fourth at quad-meet

The William and Mary women’s gymnastics team finished fourth at a quad-meet hosted by West Virginia on Friday evening.

Oklahoma won the meet with a team total of 197.375. West Virginia placed second with 196.050 followed by Western Michigan with 192.475 and William and Mary with 192.225.

William and Mary started strong on floor exercise with sophomore Maggie Lundeen scoring a 9.725 for the team high. They then moved to vault where freshman Brittany Stover posted the highest team score with a 9.725. The team had a rough time on uneven bars in the third rotation. Lundeen, junior Larson Lasek and sophomore Stacia Ruse all scored the team high of 9.600. In their last rotation on balance beam, they came back strong. Stover posted the top team score with a 9.800. Stover posted a career-best of 9.775. Lasek and junior Jessica Pritchard each scored 9.750.

In the all-around, Brie Olson of Oklahoma placed with first with a total of 39.575. Stover was the highest finisher for William and Mary, scoring a total of 38.600 to place seventh. Lasek placed eighth with 38.425 and Pritchard scored 37.425 to place ninth.

The next meet for the William and Mary women with be against Georgetown and North Carolina at Georgetown on Monday, February 11.
