William and Mary men place third at West Point Open

The William and Mary men's gymnastics team placed third at the West Point Open on Friday evening.

Temple won the meet with a team total of 417.400 followed by Army with 416.100, William and Mary with 411.400, Springfield with 401.400, Navy with 398.150, Arizona State with 395.950 and Brockpoint with 175.350.

William and Mary placed first on pommel horse and parallel bars.

Junior Landon Funiciello posted the highest score on parallel bars posting a 14.950 and tied for first on still rings with Springfield’s Ryan Ponce, both posting a 15.100. Sophomore Peter Ten Eyck placed third on pommel horse scoring 14.400. Freshman Neal Courter scored a 14.750 on vault to win the event. Junior Daniel Potemski tied for third with Springfield’s James Hennin, both scoring 13.850.

Freshman Keaton Ackerman was the only member of the team to compete in the all-around, scoring a total of 80.650 to place tenth and gave him a career high.

The William and Mary’s next meet with be against Temple and Penn State at Temple on Saturday, February 16.
