Will UFC champ Ronda Rousey align herself with The Shield at WWE Summerslam?

According to a June 4 report from Cageside Seats, UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey was watching this week's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, and she was absolutely stunned when Seth Rollins made a heel turn by smashing Roman Reigns in the back with a steel chair. Rousey, 27, was caught on film with her jaw dropping to the floor when Rollins broke up The Shield with his villainous performance.

What can WWE fans take away from the video of Rousey watching Rollins' heel turn? First of all, it seems a bit strange that Rousey would film herself watching WWE Monday Night Raw, unless her upcoming rumored appearance at WWE Summerslam had something to do with it. Rousey is reportedly in early talks with the WWE to make an appearance at WWE Summerslam, so there's a good chance the video clip of her watching The Shield is just part of an elaborate storyline.

Now that The Shield has an opening for a third member, perhaps the WWE could script Rousey to align herself with the tag-team supergroup during WWE Summerslam. WWE head honcho Stephanie McMahon is always after storylines that are best for business, and bringing Rousey on board would absolutely help draw in new fans and get more eyeballs on the WWE product. The WWE needs to sell thousands more subscriptions to the WWE Network to turn a profit on the effort, so they need to reach out to a different demographic, such as UFC fans for instance.

The WWE diehards have already signed up for the WWE Network. Now its time for the WWE to get creative in order to lure in the casual pro wrestling fan. Bringing Rousey on board to align herself with The Shield would be an unforgettable power move that could propel the WWE to new heights, and have fans forget all about CM Punk's recent departure. Additionally, the move simply makes sense.

Rousey is a WWE fan and she embraces the heel role. She likes being the "bad guy," so she would happily align herself with a group like The Shield. The rumor is that Rousey will appear alongside fellow MMA superstars Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler, for a cameo at WWE Summerslam. No word yet on exactly what her appearance will entail. The event goes down Aug. 17 at the Staples Center in California, not long after Rousey's UFC fight against Alexis Davis.
