New Year's Eve 2013, Tuesday, December 31, is a holiday for many people. And fortunately for those us in Northern California, the weather is predicted to be mild, a good day to go out and do that after Christmas shopping. But New Year's Eve is not a holiday for the US Postal Service. Regular mail delivery will take place but Post Offices will have shortened hours.
Post Office hours on New Year's Eve 2013
The US Postal Service advises that although your mail will be delivered as usual on Tuesday, most Post Offices will close at noon on New Year's Eve.
Mail pickup on New Year's Eve
USPS advises that blue collection mail boxes may be collected from early regardless of the posted time on the box.
"Be sure to deposit your mail into all blue collection boxes by noon on Dec. 24 and 31, regardless of the final collection times posted, " The Postal Service advises. "This means if the final collection time is already before noon (12 p.m.), there will be no change. However, if the final collection time is normally after noon (12 p.m.), mail may be collected early."
But once again, there will be mail delivery as usual on New Year's Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31, but most Post Offices will close at noon on Tuesday. Post Offices will be closed on New Year's Day 2014 and there will be no mail delivery service on that day.
