Friday, April 18, 2014, is a Christian holiday known as Good Friday. Many businesses will be closing for the day, or at least the afternoon, call other employees to attend the many church services and will be held to the Detroit metropolitan area. This is one of the few times that businesses will receive a holiday that is not generally observed by governmental agencies.
Yes, the post office will be open their normal business hours on Good Friday and all deliveries will be made as normal. Industrial and business parks that normally do not get Saturday delivery should expect to receive delivery on Good Friday unless they specifically informed their postal carrier they will be closed.
Trash pickup will occur on its normal schedule in Rochester Hills and most other communities in Michigan.
However, if you plan on going to Canada for the day you can expect to see virtually all businesses governmental agencies closed. Canada observes Good Friday as national holiday – one that is widely observed in the retail community despite the close proximity to Easter and the Easter shopping season.
