Here it is late Friday night on September 6th. If you live in the Phoenix, Arizona area you’re probably having mixed feelings about the weather. Thursday, the temps got as high as 112 degrees in some areas. It was very hot and humid. However, for the majority parts of the desert the sunshine and heat never ceased.
This evening was different. There was rain, dust and wind in most areas. Other than the heat, the weather was completely different from the day before. Well—one week from today at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, which is another part of the desert, a heat of a different kind will surface. That heat will be boxing king Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr., in a major showdown with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
If the desert is capable of producing rain, dust and wind on any given day, then don’t rule out the brutal elements of punishment that could be dished out in the ring when Mayweather Jr. 44 -0 (26 KO’s)meets Alvarez 42 -0 -1 (30 KO’s). Both fighters are undefeated and considered the two best fighters in their weight divisions. Mayweather Jr., is ranked number #1 boxer in the world.
As the clock draws nearer to fight time. Fight fans from all over the world are becoming more eager and less patient. It's not often that a fight of this magnitude becomes a reality. Mayweather Jr., will pocket for one fight the biggest purse any fighter has ever made. It's a minimum of $41.5 million with and upside that could add at least $10 million more.
The young hungry lion Canelo, on the other hand has a lot to gain out of this fight—especially, if he wins. At 23 years-old, big money and prestige is in close proximity of him. Can he show up and fight the perfect fight come next weekend? Will he do something different in the ring to Mayweather Jr., that he’s never experienced before? Canelo has youth, he’s athletic, he has great power in both hands and his speed is right up there with the best. Not to mention--he's already a star.
Who really knows? Next Saturday night in Las Vegas there could be a change of weather. This change of weather here may not be outside in the desert, but instead right inside in the ring. Any time two of the best conditioned fighters in the world; who are well trained and skillful meet up anything can happen. But don’t ask Floyd Mayweather Jr., because what he will say is, "forty-four have tried and forty-four has come up short." And he has every right to feel that way. What he's saying is very true.
Some people will be in Las Vegas next weekend just for the gambling. Some will be there just for the atmosphere knowing how 'big of a crowd' a fight of this magnitude produces. And then you have those whose been counting down the months and days leading up to this big fight. Whichever one best describes you, one may never know. If you’re in Las Vegas next weekend, what’s apparent is—it will definitely be a special weekend.
